The Nebraska Spoonie Initiative encourages the Disabled People of Nebraska to find spaces where they can create meaningful relationships or find hobbies while out in the community, rather than just through their programs, homes or inner circles. Community does not simply mean people who you speak to or play with, it means finding a space where you can belong. Here we invite you to find community in the ways that fit YOU!

We’ll simply share a space while we enjoy our hobbies, interests and co-exist with one another. While our events are focused on creating a third space for the disabled community of Nebraska, people of all abilities are welcome and encouraged to join! Our community is vast, and we want everyone to have a safe space to relax and enjoy the company of others. We strongly encourage any attending caregivers or support person’s to participate as well and enjoy a space that celebrates all self-expression.

If you’d like to socialize, please do. If you don’t, then don’t worry! We will have bracelets for you to wear so others know you would like your space. Your presence is enough and appreciated!
