Today we celebrate the passage of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990.

The law is split into five major parts:

• EMPLOYMENT = requires fair hiring, pay and job options.
• STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT = ensures public programs, services and buildings are open and usable.
• PUBLIC ACCOMMODATIONS = requires private businesses open to the public to be accessible.
• TELECOMMUNICATIONS = provide closed captioning and relay services for people with  speech or hearing loss.
• MISCELLANEOUS = covers legal rules, state immunity, etc.
