SUMMARY:Rhythm Bath
DESCRIPTION:RHYTHM BATH IS AN INVIGORATING MASH-UP OF A DANCE PERFORMANCE\, SCULPTURE GARDEN\, AND OTHERWORLDLY LOUNGE. \nThis dance-installation offers a paradigm shift in theater-going\, in which the audience is free to roam right through the dance. Enter a transporting space of rhythmic music and movement\, floating fabric\, and glimmering light\, where there is no “right” way to be. Sit\, lounge\, stand\, walk\, roll on wheeled chairs—move as you need to\, come and go as you please. Experience being in the midst of movement happening all around you as the dancing adjusts to wherever you are. \nRhythm Bath is what it sounds like: a chance to be surrounded by rhythm—visual\, aural\, and kinesthetic. Our brains are wired to entrain with rhythm\, and to link to others’ movements through a neurological process called interpersonal synchrony. Over the course of Rhythm Bath\, the movement and music shifts from a pulsing\, almost dance party rhythm to one of oceanic calm. Viewers can relax and soak it in quietly\, or follow the action and be energized by the surrounding movement. Patterns and lines are created by the dancers as they change location in response to audience members’ shifting placement; at times\, members of the audience become an unpredictable part of the choreography. \nRhythm Bath is this specific dance-installation—yet a “rhythm bath” more broadly could be a new form of performance that offers audiences an inclusive place to engage in an aesthetic experience\, connect through rhythm\, and enjoy art together as an impromptu community.

SUMMARY:Golf League - Game at Westwood (NEW LOCATION)
DESCRIPTION:We have not hit the greens with our golf group since early June. Whether you’ve been out swinging all summer or have not picked up a putter since we last saw you\, we are getting back together in the name of golf! This event is for folks who were either part of a golf league previously or have prior golf experience. We will pair blind and low-vision players with a volunteer golf cart/caddy for 9 holes at Westwood Golf Course. We are also seeking volunteers with golf experience to drive golf carts\, serve as caddies\, and provide coaching\, if needed\, for players with vision loss.\nTee times are TBD until we can secure reservations the week before\, but we will aim to book tee times around 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. I will do my best to fit you into the time slot that works best for you. If you are new to golf\, we’ll be starting a new golfer’s clinic this winter for people of all different experience levels. To keep up with the pace of play\, this outing is only for golfers who participated in our league last season.

SUMMARY:Rhythm Bath 9/24

SUMMARY:Life After
DESCRIPTION:LIFE AFTER is a gripping investigative documentary that exposes the tangled web of moral dilemmas and profit motives surrounding assisted dying. Disabled filmmaker Reid Davenport uncovers shocking abuses of power while amplifying the voices of the disability community fighting for justice and dignity in an unfolding matter of life and death. \nIn 1983\, a disabled Californian woman named Elizabeth Bouvia sought the “right to die\,” igniting a national debate about the autonomy and the value of disabled lives. After years of courtroom battles\, Bouvia vanished from public view. Sundance-winner Davenport embarks on a personal investigation to find out what really happened to Bouvia and reveal why her story is disturbingly relevant today. \nLIFE AFTER brings together the missing voices of the disability community in the ongoing debate about assisted dying. Disabled people continue to face premature death–whether through the horrific case of Michael Hickson\, who was left to die by a Texas hospital\, or the heart-wrenching choice of Jerika Bolen\, a Wisconsin teen who received support from her community to end her life. Davenport’s exploration takes him to Canada\, where regulations surrounding Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) have been expanded to allow disabled individuals unprecedented access–even when their deaths are not reasonably foreseeable. In Ontario\, Davenport meets Michal Kaliszan\, a disabled computer programmer who once considered MAID as his only option to avoid entering an institution.
