SUMMARY:Social: Understanding Others
DESCRIPTION:Students with perfect attendence for the duration of this course will receive a $25 gift card upon completion. \nConnecting with others can feel easier when you better understand yourself and the people around you. \nUnderstanding Others is a supportive\, six-week course in which participants will build skills for friendships\, workplace relationships\, and everyday social situations in a way that is practical\, respectful\, and autism-friendly. \nThrough guided discussion\, reflection\, and real-world practice\, students will explore what they value in friendships and relationships\, how to find social opportunities that match their interests\, and how different communication styles can affect interactions. Participants will also learn strategies for understanding common social cues\, body language\, and expectations while staying true to themselves. \nThis course is a great fit for adults who want to grow their social circle\, strengthen work or school relationships\, or feel more confident connecting with others. \nParticipants will: \n\nIdentify personal values and preferences in friendships and social connections\nBetter understand common communication styles and social patterns\nPractice perspective-taking skills to understand others’ thoughts and feelings\nExplore community and workplace opportunities connected to personal interests\nLearn strategies for starting conversations and building positive relationships\nIncrease confidence in social situations while honoring their authentic self\n\n\nPayment plan available: $50 deposit plus 5 payments of $28.00\, paid weekly. Final payment of $30.00.

This is a series you won’t want to miss!\n\n\nThese trainings will be hosted by Shaistha Kiran Karipi from PTI Nebraska.\n\n\nWhether your young person is just beginning transition planning or already thinking about life after high school\, this series is packed with information and practical strategies to help families think big and plan for the future!\n\n\nJoin us for one\, two\, or all three ONLINE sessions:\n\n\n—September 8: Think Big! Building Meaningful Lives Across the Lifespan\n\n\nLearn how families and professionals can take a strengths-based approach to planning\, build a positive vision for the future\, and support individuals with disabilities to be the primary decision-makers in their own lives.\n\n\n—September 15: Understanding the Transition Process & Advocating for Your Student\n\n\nLearn more about the secondary transition process\, how the focus of the IEP changes as students get older\, and ways families can participate in developing an individualized transition plan that supports employment\, continued education\, and community life.\n\n\n—September 22: Work is Possible: Setting a Vision for Employment\n\n\nExplore the possibilities of competitive employment!
